Life Reinvented
Hi, I’m Michael — a retired writer, editor, and second-career RN who’s still curious, still evolving, and still very much alive.
This blog, The Art of Invention, is my way of exploring what reinvention looks like in the second half of life — with humor, honesty, and the occasional jazz riff. After years of managing a team of writers and editors, and later caring for patients as a registered nurse, I’m now blending creativity and life experience into stories that aim to connect, reflect, and sometimes just make you smile.
You’ll find essays here about everything from hiking with my dog, Poppy, to grappling with grief, memory loss, aging, sourdough, gender roles, and that weird ache behind the knee that wasn’t there yesterday.
I believe reinvention is both an art and a survival skill — and I’m still figuring it out, one blog post at a time.
Thanks for stopping by.
